Excited and very eager to find out what is it like in division 2 we were hosting team Stocksbridge, who finished third last season div 2. As anticipated they proved to be a very strong team and gave usa proper run for the money…

First two rounds were all about epic ladies rubbers – both very tight, both going to three and both ending 21-18 in third set one to us one to opposition. These were intense, full of determination and great to watch games. Brilliant performance from all ladies, especially the winning pair Sally and Ada.

While ladies fought their battles both men’s pairs won their rubbers in pretty controlled way. It wasn’t the case in mixed games in which Mike and Ada had a tight one eventually winning in two and Jarek and Cat losing in three, mostly thanks to Jarek who couldn’t keep his head cool towards the end of last set…

Starting the last round the end result was still open although we needed just one rubber to secure the win. We all started at the same time all having in mind that each game may be the one for the win therefore all pairs kept it steady and we managed to win all three! 7-2 Broomgrove.

Well done to all.

Player of the match award goes to Sally and Ada for great show winning the ladies.

‘Business as usual’ award goes to Mike and Andrew for nice and steady winning all in two.

‘Patience of a saint’ award goes to Cat for handling Jarek on the court.

‘Cool it down’ award goes to Jarek… obvious reasons…

Thanks for the support to all spectators: Jonathan, Rich, Gerry, Steve, Eva and Martha and ‘Daisy the Broomgrove dinosaur’…
