Beaverhill 2 – 7 Combined (21/3/14)

Team: Hannah, Sam, Eliza; Steve, Adam, Rich
Player of the match: Hannah

Beaverhill have some strong ladies playing for them, with an established 1st division ladies team. So I was very pleased that the Broomgrove ladies took both of their rubbers. Hannah and Sam finished off a 3 ender, winning to 17 in the third. Hannah and Eliza took theirs in two, to 12 and 10.

The men for Beaverhill include a cracking young player and a very strong all rounder with an awesome smash! Adam and Steve took their rubber in two, but it was Rich and Steve’s game that was to prove a real classic. The Broomgrove pairing managed to see the rubber out in the third end.

So going in to the mixed, we were 4-0 up. Rich and Eliza played very well together to beat the strongest pairing in three having lost the first. Their second rubber was forfeit by Beaverhill due to an injury to their player. Adam and Sam took their first comfortably, but were unable to close the rubber out against the stronger pair, losing out to 18 in the third. Hannah and Steve improved in their second end, but could not take their mixed game.

So a score of 7-2 against a strong Beaverhill side was a good result.

The player of the match award goes to Hannah for not only winning both her ladies, but also playing on an injured knee – what a Broomgrove warrior!

Go Broomgrove!
