Broomgrove Combined 3 – 6 Notts Northern (12/02/10)

Broomgrove were beaten at home by Notts Northern 6-3.  This was the same score that we had been overturned by at the away venue.

Certainly there is no shame to losing to a team as strong as this.  The 1st lady was particularly strong – perhaps the strongest in our division – as she powered through all 3 of her games.

Match high point:  This was surely when Joe and Jacquie beat their 2nd pair in the mixed match.  Having gone down to 15 in the first match, they came back to win the rubber in three.  Job done.

Match low point:  Perhaps when Peter and I lost for the first time this season.  It was a rubber we should have won, at 1 game up and 18-14 up in the second.  Doh!

Well done to Joe for getting all three, Jacquie for her two, and Peter his one.

Having started off the season with 4 wins on the trot, we have most recently had a demoralising patch of 4 losses.  As we lick our wounds and gather for the next match, we should also note that these losses were against the top three sides in the S+D Plastics league…and they are the only teams to get a result against us.  Not bad for a newly promoted team.

Next up is Phoenix at home on the 26th Feb.  We managed a 7-2 result away from home, so let’s hope we can pick up where we left off.

Go Broomgrove!
