After a two month period without a competivie fixture, an air of nervousess had crept across the Broomgrove team. However this fixture against a struggling Wisewood 2 team seemed to be the perfect way to ease us back into league standard badminton. Indeed after the first 3 rubbers broomgrove were 3-0 up and cruising, as if they had never been off the court over the Christmas period. Was the elusive 9-0 whoopass on the cards? After rubber 4 it was, unfortunately in a rubber of three games Gerry and Peter couldn’t manage to win the match and keep the whoopass alive. However minutes later the victory was guaranteed with another win by Jason and Mark (Winning the 5th rubber for us seems to be their speciality).
The team knowing the victory had been grasped did not take their foot off the gas however and battled to a 7-2 victory. With this form I can’t see it being too long before a famous whoopass and dare I whisper the P word…. Promotion! To sum up 4 games in 27 rubber wins 9 rubber losses = top of the league! Bring on Wisewood 1.
