Aardvark vs. Broomgrove Mens – 22/02/08

Official Match Report

Broomgrove win 5- 4.

We turned up well early. Cray was looking a bit pasty due to being sick in Gerry’s car. We weren’t sure if it was due to nerves with such a big game, travel sickness going all the way to Rotherham or just Gerry’s dodgy driving.

The opposition then turned up with a ringer who plays feathers for Brunswick. Although he wasn’t a ringer as he is a registered player for them and doesn’t play plastics – but it just happenned to be his first game of the season for them.
Needless to say his pairing won all three of their games although they were all hard fought with Raj and Peter managing 19 points in one game Mark and Jason managing 18 in one.

Mark and Jason showed great spirit after playing their best pair first to come back and win their next 2 games. This effectivelty won us the match with Cray and Gerry easily taking 2 games.

This gave us a hard fought 5 – 4 win.

Well done lads!

  1. Rajio says:

An extra team shout out for their efforts to complete all their games in a fixed two hour period at a venue that needed some acclimitising – good job we did turn up early!

…and then for most of the team, post match, to carry on for at least another hours’ social badminton play back at their regular Friday club night at Broomgrove!

Now if that’s not dedication for you then I don’t know what is.

    Well done team.
