Broomgrove Combined vs. Stocksbridge II 14-12-07

Having looked at the previous results for these two sides, I had thought that this match was going to be quite an easy one. But a surprisingly strong Stocksbridge made this our closest result of the season as we just edged the match in a 5-4 victory.

The team scored well in the mixed games, with the pairings of Mary and Cray, and Sue and I winning 4 out of 4 rubbers. The 5th rubber came through Sue and Susan winning their ladies doubles.

A special thanks to the injury hit Raj for standing in at the 11th hour to replace Gerry. With Raj’s ankle causing him serious discomfort and restricting his movement during the games, he showed his commitment to the Broomgrove cause by playing.

So this victory leaves us unbeaten (just!) for the first half of the season, and sitting at the top of the table. Have a great Christmas everyone!

Go Broomgrove!
